Miss Universe 1999 1st runner-up Miriam Quiambao admitted that she had mixed feelings upon learning that the Miss Universe Philippines pageant in the country will no longer be handled by the Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc. (BPCI). It can be recalled that in December 2019, the new Miss Universe Philippines Organization announced that it will manage the franchise in the Philippines and it has appointed former titlist Shamcey Supsup as its National Director.

“Actually very sudden ‘yung biglang news na hindi na nga Binibining Pilipinas kasi for the longest time, institution na talaga ‘yung BPCI and wala kang ibang maiisip na mag-o-organize ng Miss Universe kundi BPCI. So nung nabalitaan ko nga na hindi na sila, parang nalungkot ako pero at the same time nagpasalamat din ako,” Miriam said in an interview with ABS-CBN News.

She added that BPCI truly opened doors and opportunities for many women.

“Nabuksan ang mga pinto. Binigyan nila ng pagkakataon. I am very thankful to BPCI. Pero dahil na rin nga ilang dekada na rin na sila ang nag-o-organize and siguro si Mrs. [Stella] Araneta medyo she’s not getting any younger, perhaps it’s time for a new breed of organizers to come in,” she said.

Miriam remarked that she believes the new Miss Universe Philippines organization is capable and fitting to further grow the pageant and find the right candidate to represent the Philippines on the international stage.“Who else to organize it but a Miss Universe representative herself ‘di ba? Si Shamcey and ‘yung grupo nila Jonas (Gaffud). They give the best trainings for our representatives. There is so much more that we can hope for dito sa bagong organizers ng Miss U dahil sa tingin ko, there’s no one else better to organize it but their group,” she stated.Tags:Miriam Quiambao , Miss Universe Philippines , Miss Universe0SHOW COMMENTS

Biro pa niya, “Hashtag Team No Sleep” (#TeamNoSleep). View this post on Instagram

View this post on Instagram

After the Lord graciously restored my relationship with my parents in 2010, Mom and I had gotten very close. We often got together for lunch dates near our workplaces and I visited my parents every Sunday at our house in QC. . This photo was taken sometime in 2012, several weeks after I just returned from a trip in Hawaii. I was invited to share my transformation story at a women’s event in Makati and I invited my mom join me. It was the first time she heard my testimony and I believe that she prayed to receive Jesus as her Lord & Savior that day. . Four years ago today, April 3, 2015, she went on to meet the Lord. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to spend time with her, to get to know her better, to thank her, to tell her how much I love her, and to share the gospel with her that day and again a few days before she passed on. . As a mom myself, I appreciate her even more now and miss her more than ever. She would have wanted to meet Baby Elijah but I’m sure she is having the grandest time in her afterlife. One day, we’ll all be together in heaven. Until then. . Happy Birthday in Heaven Mommy. I miss you. I love you. 😍❤🙏🏼 . 1 John 5:13 “I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.” . #MissingMommy
