A police officer is assisting law enforcement officials with investigations into an attack earlier this year on former beauty pageant contestant, Maygan Pascal, police say.

Pascal, a former Soufriere Carnival Queen, was attacked  by a cutlass wielding assailant in Soufriere resulting in her hospitalisation.

She has since recovered from her injuries.

The police officer who is assisting with the probe into the attack was questioned Tuesday, according to reports.

On August 23, 2019, Junior Hinds, also known as Junior Pologne, alias ‘Polo’, was charged  for the offence of grievous bodily harm in connection with the attack on Pascal.

‘Polo’, a resident of Caffeire, Choiseul, was granted bail in the sum of $3,500 cash, suitable surety or land documents when appeared in court, police say.

The bail conditions included surrendering his travel documents to the court, not leaving the state without the permission of the court and not contacting the virtual complainant, her family or any witnesses for the prosecution.

In addition, he was ordered not to venture within 100 metres of the virtual complainant and not to apply for travel documents without the court’s permission.

The accused was also ordered report to the Choiseul Police station on Wednesdays between 6.00 am and 6.00 pm.
